Five years separate the latest Ferrari 458 Speciale from the Chevy Corvette C8, and there is a considerable price gap between the two. However, as a recent Carwow video demonstrates, the two are surprisingly evenly matched on the drag strip.
Powering the ‘Vette is a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 rated at 481 PS (474 hp / 354 kW) and 613 Nm (452 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed DCT drives the rear wheels.
The Ferrari uses a non-turbo V8 as well, but with less displacement at 4.5 liters, more power at 614 PS (605 hp / 452 kW), and less torque at 540 Nm (398 lb-ft). A seven-speed DCT carries the momentum to the rear axle. On the plus side, the Italian sports car weighs significantly less than its rival.
There is a serious fight going on in the video, with the opponents running shoulder-to-shoulder in some races and finishing within one tenth of a second from one another.
