Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray spied at the Nürburgring

Photos of what must be the new part-electric Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray have surfaced online, showing the supercar lapping up the North Loop in Germany.

The test mules sighted wore Corvette Z06 bodywork, but lacked any visible tailpipes and had charging ports at both sides. The company has not revealed any specifics yet, but rumors claim the E-Ray comes powered by the same 6.2-liter V8 as the standard Corvette, plus an electric motor.

The output is estimated at 608 PS (600 hp / 447 kW), although some say it could be as high as 658 PS (650 hp / 485 kW). This means the new ‘Vette might be able to sprint from zero to 97 km/h (60 mph) in two seconds flat.

Sales are scheduled to begin next year, so we expect a full reveal in the coming few months. Later on, the Corvette family is expected to be complemented by two more special versions, named ZR1 and Zora (the flagship spec).
