35 automotive exotics worth $2M+ headed to auction in January

Northwood University will be selling a private collection of cars estimated at above 2,000,000 USD at the beginning of the next year.

The collection was donated to the educational institution by Michael Morey, an entrepreneur. It largely consists of U.S.-made classics from Chevrolet, Ford, Plymouth and Pontiac. There are muscle cars, pickup trucks, sedans and wagons in the mix, as well as multiple hot rods formerly owned by Sylvester ‘Stop-Calling-Me-Sly’ Stallone.

Among the highlights are a couple of Chevy Corvettes made in 1960 and 1962, a 1966 Pontiac GTO, a 1969 Plymouth Hemi GTX, a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda and a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T. There is also a rare Teledyne Continental Cheetah, a prototype off-roader from a batch of no more than a dozen vehicles.

The university plans to invest half of the money from the sale into the development of its campus and use the remaining half for a stipend and donation fund. Just one of the cars gifted by Morey – a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette – will avoid going under the hammer and will instead be exhibited on the university premises.
