Watch a Corvette C4 fighting against a C5 in a battle for relevance

The older iterations of the Chevrolet Corvette are still decently usable at a fraction of the cost of the latest generation. If you happen to be in the market for one, this video by TFLclassics could prove useful.

The footage shows just how much difference there can be between two otherwise similar sports cars produced a decade apart: a 1988 Corvette C4 and a 1999 C5.

Powering the C4 is a 5.7-liter mill rated at 248 PS (245 hp / 182 kW) and 460 Nm (339 lb-ft) of torque. The C5 has a major power advantage with 350 PS (345 hp / 257 kW) going to the wheels. Also, while the C4 is manual, the C5 is automatic.

At this point, you may be thinking that the C5 will leave its predecessor for dead, but it isn’t quite so. One of the tests ends with the C4 actually scoring a convincing victory. See for yourself!
