ACS Composite has produced a simple-looking upgrade part for the latest Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that may look like a regular skid plate, but has a trick up its sleeve.
According to the description, the plate is manufactured from a special composite material and mounted at the bottom of the mid-engined C8 Corvette to shield its underbody and chassis from scratches and dents. It is not a solid panel, meaning you can dismantle it bit by bit and replace only the broken guard plates.
Perhaps more interestingly, the company claims the skid plate drastically improves the aerodynamic performance of the car at higher accelerations. It is installed flush with the front splitter and helps the airflow at the bottom of the car pass straight through and not get trapped in the more complex bits of the chassis. There are no specific numbers for us to compare, but ACS Composite calls the difference ‘huge’.
The asking price is $900.
