The part-electric Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is by no means a slow car, but it still needs 10.6 seconds for its quarter-mile run. U.S.-based tuning company Boost District shaves nearly a second off that time.
The standard E-Ray powertrain combines a 6.2-liter, naturally aspirated V8 with a single e-motor for 664 PS (655 hp / 488 kW). The company found a way to upgrade the engine with dual turbos while keeping the electric part intact, resulting in approximately 1,000 horsepower (750 kilowatts) heading for the wheels.
Straight after the tune-up, the car was taken to a drag strip where it consistently managed to complete a quarter-mile (402-meter) run in 9.7 seconds – almost a second faster than stock.
Boost District points out that the work is not over yet, so we may look forward to even more impressive results down the road.
