22-year-old, rare-color, barely used Corvette crops up on sale

A 2002 Chevrolet Corvette C5 has gone on sale in the USA with 1,358 km (844 miles) on the odometer and a cool $40,000 asking price. That’s just a touch under two-thirds of the price of a new 2024 Corvette Stingray.

The seller claims the sports car had only been driven for a single week directly following its purchase. After that, it had reportedly been kept in a climate-controlled garage and only occasionally started to keep the oily bits running as they should. It has reportedly never been washed, either, and we find it particularly easy to believe by just looking at the photos below.

Aside from being a veritable time capsule, this Chevy is also said to be one out of only three model-year-2002 examples to have shipped in Electron Blue. The buyer opted for a red and black cabin trim. When new, it cost a cool $47,425.

The fifth Corvette generation was in production from 1997 until 2004 (see video). The standard specification included a 5.7-liter V8 engine rated at 350 PS (345 hp / 257 kW).
