Chevrolet reveals new details about next-gen Corvette

The next-generation Chevrolet Corvette series won’t be out until at least spring 2019, but the manufacturer has decided to reveal some of its main characteristics ahead of the premiere.

For one thing, the new Chevrolet Corvette will utilize an aluminum space-frame chassis along with some magnesium and carbon components. Its body panels will partially consist of glass-fiber reinforced plastic.

The car will ship with a choice among a 6.2L V8 engine rated at 500 hp (373 kW), a 5.5L naturally-aspirated motor with 600 hp (447 kW) and its turbo version capable of 800 hp (595 kW).

The manufacturer will also be bringing a hybrid modification of the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette out on the market a few years later the main release. It is going to get a 5.5L V8 working in tandem with a 200 hp / 150 kW electric engine and a DCT box to produce around 1,000 horsepower (750 kilowatts).

Finally, the vehicle is going to take advantage of an active aerodynamic package with an adjustable rear wing and lift-enabled suspension.
