General Motors has patented what it calls an innovative aerodynamic system for the Chevrolet Corvette.
As the patent documents seem to indicate, the sport car will get adjustable side skirts, air ducts, and a rear spoiler.
A special arrangement can extend and retract the side skirts depending on the current movement speed of the vehicle. The angle of attack and the angle of rotation of the spoiler wing can also be automatically adjusted based on the current air flow speed.
The air ducts will be located both in the top and the bottom parts of the Chevrolet Corvette. The openings will get active valves for precise downforce control.
It is still unknown whether the technology will later be adopted by other General Motors-produced vehicles.
