GM to recall another 668k+ cars over faulty seat mounts

Not long ago, General Motors and NHTSA joined efforts to recall around a million cars due to potentially faulty airbags. Now, the same car company is recalling another several hundred of vehicles for an unrelated, but equally grave reason.

According to the documents, children’s seats installed in the rear row may not be fastened properly due to excess amounts of slippery spray coating on the latches. Baby seat latches coming undone during collisions may result in severe injury and even fatalities.

General Motors is now looking forward to recalling, examining and repairing (as needed) 668,187 cars, including Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models made in 2020 through 2023. NHTSA suggests that all affected owners either refrain from using child seats in the back row or otherwise buckle them up with standard safety belts in addition to the latches – and visit a service center A.S.A.P.
