NASCAR Chevy Impala surfaces on sale for $165k

The 11-year-old Chevrolet Impala serving as a track-only supercar for the NASCAR Sprint Cup has just cropped up with a $165,000 USD sticker attached.

The car – which you can see in the enclosed video – was piloted by the famous Jeff Gordon back in 2011, explaining the steep price. The driver has scored 93 victories across 22 NASCAR seasons, earning the title of one of the history’s most successful racers in this series. The car still carries his number – 24.

The year 2011 in particular didn’t go well for Jeff: silver in Indianapolis was his best result, and the season ended with him in the eighth position.

The Impala is track-ready, as the video clearly demonstrates. Its 5.9-liter Hendrick Motorsport V8 churns out 850 PS (838 hp / 625 kW) in tandem with a four-speed manual transmission. The body still wears the original livery from 11 years ago, listing all the sponsors of that season.
