The Batman’s iconic mode of transportation from the comics and movies is often replicated on production car bases, but this vehicle comes directly from the filming set of the 1992 movie Batman Returns. The seller believes it is worth U.S. $1,500,000.
Unlike the fan creations found all around the world, this car played its role in the movie alongside Michael Keaton, Danny de Vito, Michelle Pfeiffer and Christopher Walken. It is over six meters (19.7 feet) long and runs on 1980 Chevy Impala underpinnings.
Most Batmobiles built for the movies shot in 1989 and 1992 rely on V8 engines, but this particular example has an electric motor and maxes out at 25-30 mph (40-48 km/h).
In particular, this example starred in the scene where Penguin assumed remote control over the Batmobile (see video). The Batman was in the cabin, but was unable to control his ride. For the purposes of the movie, the car had a stunt driver’s seat concealed behind the front row and came equipped with actual flamethrowers imitating jet thrusters.
