35-year-old, low-mileage Chevrolet exotic crops up on sale

An exotic car dealership is looking for buyers willing to acquire this 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Coupe with only 972 km (604 miles) under its belt. The car is in great condition and goes for $65,900, but the seller is already offering a $6,000 discount.

The Chevy Monte Carlo shared its platform with the likes of the Buick Regal, Oldsmobil Cutlass and Pontiac Grand Prix. It originally participated in NASCAR races in early 80s and only received a road-legal Super Sports (SS) variant in 1983.

The Monte Carlo SS fell behind both its rivals and relatives in terms of power and acceleration. Its five-liter small-block-eight engine only made 180 PS (178 hp / 132 kW), while the Chevrolet Camaro got 215 PS (212 hp / 157 kW) out of the same block. Despite this, the model proved a rather nice seller, as Chevrolet was able to move more than 39,000 units in 1987 alone.

This example is in pristine condition and belongs to the top trim level, which implies an AC, cruise control, power windows and power doors. The black exterior paint with red accents is also OEM.

The seller believes that a barely used 1987MY sports car is prime investment material, as such cars keep rising in value these days.
