Marvel at this 1970 Chevy Nova restomod formerly owned by Van Halen

A unique restomod based on a 51-year-old Chevrolet Nova has cropped up on sale with 641 hp under the hood and a history of being driven by Eddie Van Halen, the famous founder and guitarist of the Van Halen rock band. The bidding has reached $60,000 a few days before closing.

Compared to the Chevrolet Nova shown in the video, the restored example features mostly new bodywork with some original parts repainted or swapped out for carbon-fiber ones. The bumpers are likewise new, and KWC wheels sized 18” and 19” front/rear sit in the arches.

Further upgrades include Wilwood brakes, air-ride suspension with Ridetech parts and sway bars, and improved steering.

The 7.4-liter LSX V8 under the hood benefits from redesigned intake and exhaust systems and is rumored to output around 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW), although no official numbers are provided. A Tremec six-speed manual gearbox directs the momentum to the wheels.

The cabin has been redone rather faithfully, but there is a new dashboard, Sparco bucket seats wrapped in Alcantara, and an air conditioner now. A safety cage occupies the space where rear seats once were. The odometer shows around 2,700 km (1,700 miles) since restoration.
