Jason Scudellari builds a 680-hp Chevrolet Nova SS restomod for his wife

Did you know they never put a V8 into the 1963 Chevrolet Nova? Turns out engine downsizing was a thing in the sixties! Anyway, Randy Scudellari found the vintage ride’s 120-hp six-cylinder lacking, and her husband found a way to improve things drastically.

Jason swapped the lackluster mill out for a 6.2-liter LS15-B15 crate engine and used a ProCharger radial supercharger to boost it to 650 wheel hp (485 kW), or essentially more than five times the performance the car had when it rolled off the line. He had to upgrade plenty of other components, including the entire intake and exhaust systems.

He also reinforced the four-speed mechanical gearbox and installed modern Baer brakes to ensure proper deceleration. He then redesigned the suspension and replaced the wheels with modern alloys wrapped in sticky Falken Azenis tires.

The car only has one seat inside – Randy’s, as the rest were thrown out to minimize the curb weight. There’s still plenty of comfort thanks to a digital dashboard, a quick-release steering wheel and a high-end speaker set. Of course, a roll cage is installed, too.
