Chevrolet has released an image showing its upcoming sedan/saloon Onix it plans to sell exclusively in China. The car will celebrate its official premiere at the 2019 Auto Shanghai expo starting in a few weeks.
Interestingly enough, the car manufacturer has been selling another model also named “Chevrolet Onix” in South America for six years. It remains unclear whether the company will discontinue the old Onix once the new one reaches China, or will continue offering both models in spite of any potential confusion this may cause. Chevrolet has provided no official comment at the time of writing this new article.
Aside from the teaser pic, there are unofficial photos circulating online, showing the compact car in its full glory. If these are anything to go by, the sedan/saloon will sport curved air intakes located at the sides of the front bumper, as well as a sectioned front grille. Its rear, on the other hand, is nothing special altogether.
The Chinese version of the Onix will ship with a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine rated at 114 hp / 85 kW. There will also be a cheaper 1.3-liter naturally aspirated engine with ca. 100 hp / 75 kW. Finally, the company will be releasing a sports car trim called “Onix Redline”, but it will be limited to purely aesthetic tweaks and ship with the same drivetrain choices.
