Here’s all you need to know about the new Chevrolet Orlando

The all-new Chevrolet Orlando has been designed exclusively for the Chinese market and won’t be sold outside of China. Compact MPVs like this are pretty popular around here, so we can expect sales to be good.

The cross-country van is 4,684 mm (15.37 ft.) long, 1,807 mm (5.93 ft.) wide and 1,628 (5.34 ft.) mm tall with 2,796 mm (9.17 ft.) between the axles. These dimensions are virtually identical to those of the Buick GL6 compact MPV, prompting the assumption that this is what the new Orlando is based upon.

Customers will be able to choose between a five- and a seven-seat variant of the vehicle. The third seat row in the latter comes mounted on a pair of rails and can be moved forward and backwards. The trunk volume of the seven-seat version varies from the minimum 479 liters to 1520 liters when the rear seats are folded.

The standard equipment is rather basic, encompassing a classical analog dashboard, a multimedia center and a single-zone climate control.

Transmissions include manual and automatic. Both ship with an invariable 1.3-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine manufacturer-rated at 156 hp (116 kW).

The new Chevrolet Orlando series will be assembled in the SAIC-GM joint works in China and enter the market in the coming fall.
