Chevrolet 3100 EV can be yours from $160k

Kindred Motorworks, from California, has announced a batch of Chevrolet 3100 electromods combining vintage looks with modern tech and power. The shipments will not begin until 2025, and the cheapest you can do is $159,000 before any options.

Any model number 3100 produced between 1947 and 1953 can serve as the donor vehicle. The company removes the original powertrain entirely and puts an electric motor on the rear axle instead with 298 PS (294 hp / 220 kW) at its command. The 74-kWh battery should be enough for 322 km (200 miles) of range, and charging it from a fast home charger should take around nine hours, the company estimates.

The suspension, the steering and the brakes all get upgraded as well, and the truck gets power steering, keyless entry, power windows and an electronic parking brake. Feature highlights inside include a heated bench seat, an infotainment system with smartphone support, and a four-channel audio system including a subwoofer.

You will recognize the restomod on the outside by its impeccable condition, LED headlights, two-piece windshield divided down the middle, and waterproof bed with convenient tie-downs.
