Chevrolet has brought an unusual military-styled off-road truck nicknamed the Beast to the SEMA show in Las Vegas. The vehicle uses a shortened Silverado chassis and lacks doors and windshield.
The bodywork is exposed in places, the roof houses auxiliary lights, and there are two spare wheels in the back. Power comes from a 6.2-liter Chevrolet Performance LT4 V8 rated at 660 PS (650 hp / 478 kW). A ten-speed transmission carries the momentum through a dual-range transfer case to all four wheels.
The suspension benefits from rally-grade components, while 20-inch wheels wear 37-inch all-terrain tires. The suspension travel amounts to 12 inches (30.48 cm) at the front axle and 15.4 inches (39.37 cm) in the back. The wheel span equals 90.3 inches (2,311 mm), and the ground clearance exceeds 13.3 inches (340 mm).
