Chevrolet Silverado EV production will not begin until 2023

General Motors has already joined the electric truck game with its admittedly extremely expensive Hummer EV pickup, and the Chevrolet Silverado EV is expected to continue the trend – but it will not be there soon.

As you probably know, the Hummer EV is only available as Edition 1 right now, which costs $109,000 and is still to ship. The Rivian R1T undercuts it hard with a price that’s $40,000 less and immediate availability. The upcoming F-150 Lightning is shaping up to be even more affordable. But what about the long-anticipated Silverado EV?

Apparently, the truck – which we have only seen in teasers so far – will debut at the Consumer Electronics Show 2022 in Las Vegas in January. The production, however, will not begin until 2023, Automotive News reports quoting GM VP Doug Parks.

Speaking at the Deutsche Bank AutoTech Conference, Parks said the all-electric Silverado would only reach production in early 2023, much later than originally expected. This leaves Ford and the other competitors in a winning position with several months of headway to sell their e-trucks.
