Chevrolet will attend the Consumer Electronics Show on January 5, 2022 with a fully electric version of the Silverado pickup. General Motors CEO Mary Barra will be present at the unveil, and she has a rather emphatic message to share with the competitors.
“What that vehicle offers, I think is unmatched,” Barra said during a recent press meeting in Detroit. While she may have simply meant the innovative technologies that are bound to come with any modern electric truck, it might also have been a jab at Ford, which took the F-150 chassis and based the Lightning pickup on it.
She also emphasized that GM was leading in self-driving technology advancement and electric car market, a rather odd claim if you consider that the Silverado EV would not be out before early 2023. Its archrival, the abovementioned Ford F-150 Lightning, has already amassed 200,000 pre-orders and is due to ship nine months ahead of the Silverado, if not sooner.
