Chevrolet Silverado loses weight, gains style points

With a few hours until the Detroit Motor Show 2018 and all the details having been published on the manufacturer’s website, the next-gen Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck is no longer a mystery.

Even though the car is built around a stainless steel framework, it is roughly 200 kilograms (440 lbs.) lighter than its previous model. This became possible via generous use of aluminum and other lightweight materials.

Interestingly, while the car has undergone quite a major facelift on the exterior, its passenger compartment remained virtually unchanged. According to Chevrolet, the company makes its design decisions based on customer feedback and, apparently, users of the current-gen Silverado didn’t have much to complain about.

The new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado comes with a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines to choose among, and a few drivetrain options. Little is being disclosed at the moment, but we know that the car is going to be shipped with seriously overhauled 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 engines, as well as a 3.0-liter, six-cylinder Duramax turbo diesel.

The car will be made available in a grand total of eight versions, so pickup lovers will have quite a choice to make.
