According to the reports of various media from the U.S., General Motors has postponed the production start of the all-electric Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV at its Orion factory near Detroit for at least a few years.
Until then, the Factory Zero complex in Detroit will be the only one producing these two electric truck models. A representative of the company allegedly told the media about the need to upgrade the Orion site further before it becomes financially viable for EV production.
Reports are also coming in that the corporation overestimated the demand for battery-powered pickups and no longer sees the need to produce them at two sites simultaneously. GM has refrained from commenting so far.
