Specialty Vehicle Engineering has come up with performance upgrades for the new model year’s Chevrolet Silverado (see video). Only the entry-level four-cylinder version remains stock, while the two V8s gain a substantial power and torque boost.
The 5.3-liter engine can be pushed to 700 PS (690 hp / 515 kW), while the larger 6.2-liter mill can go as far as 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW). Only pickups with a two-row cabin (Double Cab or Crew Cab) and a ten-speed automatic transmission are accepted for the upgrade. The list of components changed includes the pistons, the crank, the cylinder heads and the entire exhaust system.
SVE notes that driving a truck as powerful as this can be tricky due to the somewhat extreme throttle response. To mitigate it, the company offers a feature called Boost-by-Wire, which measures the exact pressure on the accelerator pedal and adjusts the boost amount accordingly, resulting in a much smoother ride.
Only 50 trucks will be made in each of these two versions.
