Vintage Chevrolet Suburban evolves from van into roadster

A unique 1953 Chevrolet Suburban went up on sale in Michigan, USA, boasting a roadster body style and a complete overhaul. The investment in the project amounted to $100,000, and the asking price is not available.

What really strikes the eye is the meticulous attention to detail and quality of execution. The car looks like something that could easily have been a production model, rather than a one-off. The restorer used custom blueprints to produce the brushed-aluminum front grille, both bumpers, and the side skirts. Torq Thrust alloy wheels are also a great fit on the retro-style roadster, especially with the low air suspension and disc brakes visible behind the spokes.

The inner space accommodates four large leather seats, an Ididit steering wheel made of wood, aluminum pedals, and a hand-crafted center tunnel complete with a modern console and cup holders.

The drivetrain also receives its due, trading its old engine in favor of a V8 4.7 with a carburetor, aluminum air intake system, and intercooler. GM Turbo 400 fits the role of four-speed automatic transmission, and the drive resides on the rear axle.

The only imaginable downside of the project is its total lack of roof of any kind, meaning you can’t really enjoy driving it in bad weather.
