A couple of Chevrolet Suburban stretch limousines allegedly produced in 1983 and 1987 have gone up on sale in Japan with an asking price of ¥1,000,000 ($9,060 USD) each. What is this even about, any ideas?
On our part, there are at least three unresolved questions. First, we have no idea who may have imported the two ten-door cars into Japan and when. It looks like they could have been used as transfer vehicles at airports, but no confirmation exists.
Second, the seller claims Chevrolet had produced and sold such stretch limos for many years, which is also unfounded as claims go.
Finally, the asking price seems exorbitant for what is being passed for production cars in barn-found conditions. The bodies have rusted over and, in places, straight through. There is a mention of both cars having 7.43-liter (453ci) gasoline V8 engines mated to automatic transmissions, but their current state is a mystery. The cabins are likewise not shown.
Would you be able to enlighten us on what these are and what reasons the seller might have to sell them at ¥1M apiece?
