Fast & Furious tow truck goes on sale

A custom truck with a Peterbilt cab and a Chevrolet chassis is up for grabs in the United States right now. It was built for the 2019 movie called “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw” and is piloted by Jason Statham in the final helicopter chase scene. Its creator claims having invested U.S. $285,000 in the build, but the bidding has only reached $32,000 so far.

Professional car customizer Dennis McCarthy built the unique truck on a 1983 Chevrolet Suburban chassis and the suspension components taken from King and Currie Enterprises shelves. It boasts rotor brakes at both axles and wears 20-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in 40-inch Pit Bull Rocker rubber.

The cab has turbocharger bodies and upright exhaust pipes on display, but both are purely for show and not functional. The engine bay is occupied by a 6.2-liter, naturally aspirated General Motors V8 rated at 525 PS (518 hp / 386 kW) in tandem with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip rear differential.

A peek inside reveals Beard bucket seats and imitation leather for the main trim material. The dashboard has an aluminum trim plate and houses a set of AutoMeter analog instruments.

Having left the filming set, the truck has taken part in multiple promo events with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson behind the wheel. It was then sold to a private collector with just around 3,000 km (1,860 miles) on the odo. The seller claims it can be easily made street-legal by adding turn indicators and brake lights.
