Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has launched sales of a new tuning package targeting the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter petrol engines found in many General Motors utility vehicles and trucks. The cornerstone of the upgrade is a tuned Magnuson supercharger.
The kit is supposed to work with the stock throttle body, so you get to save a bit on replacing that. The larger 6.2-liter engines can be expected to reach approximately 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and 854 Nm (630 lb-ft) of torque on 6 psi of boost pressure. The 5.3-liter unit can be persuaded to part with 545 PS (538 hp / 401 kW) and 725 Nm (535 lb-ft) of torque. The list of compatible vehicles includes Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade and some others.
The supercharger kit itself comes in at $9,150, but you are also going to need ECU calibration ($2,600) and installation ($3,000), so the whole sums up to $14,750 for an extra 150 horsepower or so.
