Video: Rock-heavy Chevrolet Tahoe performing donuts on tarmac

Did you know that the Chevrolet Tahoe, a hardcore body-on-frame SUV that weighs in at a whopping 2,950 kilos (6,500 pounds), could actually go into a controlled drift mode and do some donuts? We, too, considered it too clumsy and sluggish for the trick. Yet, as Hennessey Performance has shown in this video, miracles happen if you try hard enough.

The tuner fitted the 5.3-liter Chevrolet V8 of the car with its trademark HPE500 power kit. Among many other things, the package included a massive 2.9-liter supercharger, a high-flow intercooler, and an extensive ECU upgrade. Once applied, they raised the output by 153 hp / 114 kW to an impressive 508 hp / 380 kW.

In terms of appearance, though, the bulky SUV remained untouched, unless you count Hennessey badges and branded floor mats as tuning parts, too.

Oh, and before we forget: the owner of the car felt like saying goodbye to the old tires, so he took it to a racing course and pulverized them in a spectacular drift ride.
