Did you know that Chevrolet was actually selling two different models under the same name “Trailblazer”? One is a compact SUV for North America and China, while the other one is a second-gen body-on-frame SUV made for Brazil. The latter just got an update!
This is a second facelift the eight-year-old model is going through – the first one was four years ago. The car now spells out the marque on its radiator grille and moves the Chevy logo to the left side. The 18-inch Graphite Grey wheels are also new.
The 2.8-liter turbo-four diesel engine still pumps out its usual 200 hp (150 kW) and 500 Nm (370 lb-ft) of torque, but now has better throttle response thanks to an improved turbocharger and firmware logic. Sprinting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) is a matter of 10.3 seconds, and the manufacturer claims that noise and vibration have been reduced. The transmission is six-speed automatic, and the AWD system now features a two-speed, electronically controlled transfer case.
Equipment-wise, the rearview camera has increased resolution, and the car can now brake automatically upon detecting obstacles or pedestrians on the road driving between 8 and 80 km/h (5 – 50 mph). The latter is paid option that complements the existing head-on collision warning system.
Android Auto and Apple Car Play support round off the technical highlights, and you can now engage certain in-car functions, like climate control, remotely via smartphone.
