The current-gen Chevrolet Traverse came out three years ago and instantly became more popular than the old generation, selling 147,000 units in 2019 in the United States alone. Despite this, the model still lags pretty far behind the market leaders – the Ford Explorer, the Honda Pilot and the Toyota Highlander. The 2021 refresh may fix it to a certain degree.
Outside, the front end is completely redesigned, while the rear end makes do with new brake lights. The entire lighting is now LED-based.
Inside, a new 8-inch digital dash panel replaces the old one, and the new infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The third seat row still accommodates three passengers in all trim levels, while the second row can now be configured either as two individual seats or another three-seat sofa.
The standard equipment now includes automatic emergency braking, lane control and automatic high beam toggling, while adaptive cruise control remains a paid option.
The engine range remains a mystery; in all likelihood, the car will still ship with its V6 3.6 (314 hp / 234 kW) and nine-speed automatic transmission. If you are looking for the I4 2.0 version, that one went off the assembly lines a year and a half ago.
The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse will hit the showrooms throughout the USA late this year.
