The first-gen, post-facelift Opel Mokka is sold under two aliases in the United States: namely, Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore. Today, GM Authority reported that the Trax will be trading its old 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine for another oldie with marginally better output.
Specifically, the power is expected to grow by 15 points and amount to 155 horsepower (116 kW), whereas the torque should gain 39 Nm (29 lb-ft) and max out at 240 Nm (177 lb-ft). While not exactly bad, it remains unclear just why the automaker would swap a seriously outdated powertrain for another one just as bad.
Note that the China-spec Chevrolet Trax, unlike its American cousin, has long gone into its second generation and now packs a much more interesting three-cylinder turbo mill good for 163 hp (121 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque.
