China ramps up global car exports

The Public Republic of China has shipped 1.539 million light passenger cars worldwide in Q1 2024, surpassing the result of the preceding year by 34.8%.

Russia led the statistics with around 141,000 vehicles imported in the first quarter of the year, followed by Mexico and Belgium as the distant second and third places.

Automakers in China are actively looking to produce their vehicles abroad now that the supply started to exceed the demand. According to reports, the government of Turkey is currently in talks with BYD, Chery, Great Wall and SAIC, who are all apparently interested in localizing the assembly of their cars in the country.
