Chinese truck manufacturer to make the 2nd-gen VGV U70

Sinotruck is a China-based company mostly known for its trucks, but it has just announced an SUV. The vehicle is 4.8 meters long and coming to the market posing as the second generation of the VGV U70 (see video).

The full premiere will take place on May 26, and prices will lie within the 87,800–115,800 Yuan range, the company says.

The crossover SUV is 4,825 mm (188.5 inches) long, 1,870 mm (73 inches) wide and 1,691 mm (66 inches) tall with 2.8 meters (109.4 inches) between the axles. This makes it comparable to the Kia Sorento in terms of size. The main visual difference from the first generation is in the bumpers: the front one gets a fake protection plate, while the rear one enjoys an equally fake diffuser. The radiator grille becomes slightly larger, and the c-pillars now look mildly more interesting than before.

Things liven up in the interior, which has been completely overhauled with a massive tunnel in the center, rectangular air vents, and large physical buttons governing most in-car functions.

Starting from the middle trims, the new U70 Pro offers a pair of 10.25-inch screens for the gauges and infotainment, LED lighting, panoramic glass above, and an optional third seat row.

Powering the ride is a 1.5-liter turbo engine rated at 156 PS (154 hp / 116 kW) and 215 Nm (159 lb-ft) of torque. You can choose between manual and automatic, but AWD is not an option.
