Could Chrysler spring back to life with the Airflow Concept?

Chrysler has fallen on hard times lately, but seeing it post these new pics of the Airflow Vision EV makes us moderately optimistic about its future.

The model lineup of the 117-year-old automotive company has been reduced to just one outdated sedan and two vans lately, prompting FCA to consider shutting it down altogether. However, when the FCA and PSA merged to form the Stellantis Group, hope shone anew for Chrysler.

Now, at a Stellantis EV Day, the carmaker suddenly revealed a revised variant of its Airflow Vision EV concept from last year’s CES (see video). The new version of the car looks simpler designed and sports a stylish body with many recognizable features. It has conventional side mirrors instead of cameras, a panoramic roof, and pull-out door handles.

In contrast to the simple exterior, the cabin makes use of multiple displays and foregoes traditional (=mechanical) gauges and controls altogether.

No technical specifications have been announced, but we would expect a production car to ship based on the STLA Large chassis and a battery rated close to 800 km (500 miles) of range.

Stellantis intends to introduce eight new production cars on the STLA platform in the next three to five years, and it remains to be seen whether the Airflow makes the cut.
