Waymo tests its self-driving tech on people

Waymo, a U.S. company specializing in self-driving car technology development and research, has arranged an experiment to see how people would react to riding an unmanned vehicle. To that end, it outfitted the autonomous car based on the Chrysler Pacifica with a number of video cameras filming passengers. The company puts an emphasis on the fact that it only admitted random passers-by on board their car and didn’t stage anything.

Wayne’s Chrysler Pacifica comes packed to the brim with such auxiliary equipment as radars, laser rangefinders, and an AI unit which can gather and process real-time data and act upon its findings. Armed with a tech like this, the Chrysler Pacifica by Waymo is said to be capable of discriminating between 20,000+ different road conditions and physical bodies.

How did the passengers feel about their first ride in a car that drove itself? Watch the video to find out!
