The Chrysler Pacifica Grizzly Peak Concept looks like a serious rugged SUV with plenty of ground clearance, off-road wheels and all the equipment you may need out in the wild. Just whether it may ever reach production is unknown.
The clearance gain amounts to 70 mm (2.7 inches) at the front and 64 mm (2.5 inches) at the rear end. 18-inch wheels comes wrapped 31-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires. It’s possible that there were other suspension modifications, but Chrysler didn’t go into detail there.
The exterior wears a lighter shade of matte grey with black accents and rugged trim all around. The roof rack houses auxiliary lighting, a full-fledged spare wheel and an extendable awning for picnics out in the open. Mopar mud flaps, grizzly bear graphics and yellow anti-fog lamps round off the stylish look.
Contrasting the black exterior plastic is a cabin trimmed with white leather. Orange safety belts and stitching help liven things up a bit, and there is a queen-size bed in the back instead of the third seat row. Chrysler also points out floor mats that are easy to wash, a 115V power socket for appliances and a special niche for storing dirty clothes and gear.
Everything stays stock under the hood. In the case of the Pacifica, this means a 3.6-liter Pentastar six-cylinder engine rated at 291 PS (287 hp / 214 kW) and 355 Nm (262 lb-ft) of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission routes the power to two or all four wheels via an on-demand AWD.
