Citroen, Accor and JCDecaux signed up a cooperation agreement last year to try and optimize urban transportation. Here is the first product of their union, the Citroen Skate.
The Citroen Skate is essentially a self-driving car platform that you can put a custom cab on in mere ten seconds. It can only drive along specially designated lanes and lacks wheels, which it replaces with spherical rollers. The main advantage of this design is that it can freely go in any direction without turning.
Powering the Citroen Skate is an electric powertrain with so far undisclosed specifications. The manufacturer points out that the top speed amounts to 25 km/h (15.5 miles per hour). As a design study, it has three cab modules: one for two passengers, another one for a single VIP passenger, and a taxi module for ride-sharing services.
