Citroen DS, a premium car brand and part of the PSA Peugeot Citroеn alliance, said it will release an all-new hi-end car model in 2020 to celebrate its sixty-fifth birthday.
The vehicle is likely to be called DS 8. Citroen lists the Audi A6 and the BMW 6-Series as its main competitors. Reportedly, its exterior design is complete and has already received high praise from the company’s VPP. As far as the style goes, the car may be inspired by such models as the Citroen Numero 9 and the DS 7 Crossback.
It is going to utilize the same EMP2 platform all latest Peugeot cars are based on. There will be a few gasoline and diesel engines to choose from, and possibly a hybrid drivetrain as well.
The DS 7 Crossback crossover SUV is the current flagship of the brand. It comes with a rather broad engine palette including three gasoline engines, two diesel ones and a hybrid one. The weakest of the six produces 130 hp (97 kW).
