The Citroen Ami is a microcar that lends itself to a variety of applications, including last-mile delivery of parcels. Its latest role as a police cruiser is somewhat atypical, though.
The Greek island of Chalki, 27 square kilometers large, is home to fewer than 500 inhabitants, removing the need for a large police car fleet. The subcompact EV fits in nicely there, rocking a special livery and drawing its power from the usual 8-hp (6-kW) motor linked to a 5.5-kWh traction battery. It maxes out at 45 kilometers per hour (28 mph) and has enough juice for 70 km (43.5 miles) of driving before it needs to be recharged.
Aside from the Ami, the police vehicle fleet in Greece also includes such all-electric Citroen models as the E-C4, E-Spacetourer, and E-Jumpy.
