Citroen has posted two short videos revealing the cabin of its impending coupe-CUV Basalt for India. First previewed in March, it is set to debut on August 2, 2024.
Times of India ventures the opinion that the car will be unified with the Citroen C3 Aircross model already on sale in the country. It appears to have the same tech and interior layout.
Among other things, the teasers reveal a climate control panel with recognizable C3-style controls, an infotainment display that’s around 10.25 inches large, a digital instrument cluster and a steering wheel. They also show seats with adjustable headrests and an armrest in the middle, which, unlike the C3, has a storage box in it.
If we had to speculate, we’d say the crossover will most likely ship with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo under the hood rated at 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW) and 190 Nm (140 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission could be six-speed manual or automatic.
Once out and about, the Citroen Basalt will likely compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Considering its coupe-like body style, the recently revealed Tata Curvv also appears one of its main rivals.
