The 2021 Citroen C4 is a crossover hatchback with EV option

The French car manufacturer has shared the first photos of its next-gen C4 model. The car is now shaped more like a CUV than a hatchback, and comes with ICE and EV powertrains to choose between.

The 2021 Citroen C4 comes based on the CMP architecture also used in the latest Opel Corsa and Mokka, as well as the Peugeot 208 and 2008. This is why it has the slanted roof and the slightly altered dimensions.

As far as the engine palette is concerned, the old gasoline engines with 1.2 liters of displacement remain available, offering between 100 and 155 hp (75 – 116 kW). Alternatively, you can opt for a 1.5-liter diesel or invest in an all-electric C4 driven by a single 134hp (100kW) motor. The latter uses a 50-kWh traction battery that gives it around 340 kilometers (211 miles) of range, the manufacturer claims.

Interestingly enough, the ad campaign of the next-gen Citroen C4 flaunts the hashtag #ElectricForAll, likely hinting that the car is highly affordable by EV standards.

The official reveal event remains scheduled for June 30, 2020.
