Citroen C4 & ë-C4 specs and features revealed

Citroen showed us the new C4 and its electric counterpart – the ë-C4 – late last month, but it hasn’t delved into the details of the update until today.

The cars comes based on the CMP/e-CMP unitized architecture and boast design by Pierre Leclerc. The C4 ships with a wide assortment of powertrains to choose from, including five petrol engines rated between 100 and 155 hp (75 – 115 kW, respectively) and two diesels good for 110 and 130 hp (82 and 97 kW). Transmission choices boil down to six-speed manual and eight-speed auto.

The battery-powered ë-C4 has the same engine as the technically related Peugeot e-2008, which is rated at 136 hp (100 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. It stores up to 50 kilowatt-hours, which lets it cover around 350 kilometers (217 miles, WLTP-rated) before charging becomes necessary. The 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) launch takes somewhat sluggish 9.7 seconds, and the top speed is 150 km/h (93 mph).

The manufacturer emphasizes such features as the abundance of interior space, plenty of storage compartments and a “warm” ambience. The latter is composed of soft-touch materials, LED-based lighting and a panoramic glass roof with a sunscreen and an electric drive.

The car comes in 31 color versions and six Atmosphere themes for the cabin. Smart Pad Support Citroen provides smartphone and tablet support straight from the factory.

There are a couple dozen of safety aids on board, including pedestrian and cyclist-aware emergency braking, and a Level 2 self-drive system.

The new Citroen C4 and ë-C4 will arrive in the showrooms later this year.
