It’s Official: Citroen C4 Cactus has two years left

Xavier Peugeot, Citroen’s Director of Product Planning, said in the latest interview the company planned to discontinue the C4 Cactus in 2021. A replacement for the compact crossover/SUV is already in the works.

Media representatives have voiced assumptions that the replacement model is not an SUV, but rather a C-class hatchback from the Ford Focus / VW Golf league.

The Citroen C4 Cactus has been in production since 2014 and received an update in 2018. It ships with three 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engines rated at 80, 110 and 130 horsepower (60, 82 and 97 kilowatts, respectively). There are also two 1.6-liter diesel engines to choose from, capable of 100 and 120 hp (75 and 90 kW). Available transmissions include six-speed manual and automatic.

One of the major features of the Citroen C4 Cactus comes in the form of Citroen’s trademark suspension system called Progressive Hydraulic Cushions. The system incorporates special shock absorbers fitted with dual hydraulic stoppers for a smoother driving experience that some even call “a magic carpet ride”.
