Following in the tire tracks of the Peugeot 508 and the opulent DS9, Citroën has unveiled a new flagship model named C5 X. The car is expected to compete with the likes of Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6, despite not being a saloon, a wagon OR a crossover SUV – it is all of them at once.
The relatively level top seems to suggest ‘sedan’, while the back screams ‘estate car’. Factor in the high road clearance, and you’ve got the C5 X.
The interior of the car contains a 12-inch multimedia touchscreen and a fully digital dashboard. AR and driver aids are also on the feature list.
The newcomer will be available with a number of powertrain options, Citroën’s favorite being a PHEV one rated at 225 PS (222 hp / 165 kW) with 50 kilometers (31 miles) of all-electric range.
Sales in Europe will start in the second half of 2021.
