Citroen debuts C5 Aircross SUV in Europe

Citroen debuted its all-new C5 Aircross crossover SUV in Shanghai last year, followed by China market launch. It is now official that customers in Europe will get it before the end of 2018, almost a year after the initial release.

The new car is only slightly different than its Chinese variant: 10 mm (0.4”) shorter and 20 mm (0.8”) narrower. More importantly, it comes with 29 mm (1.1”) more road clearance.

The European model also gets revised chassis with hydraulic-jounce-bumper suspension, a spacious trunk compartment and three separately folding rear seats.

The equipment list pretty much corresponds to what European customers expect to see in a vehicle like this: adaptive cruise control, massage seats, wireless gadget charger, a panorama roof, keyless trunk access, 360-degree view, and a digital dashboard.

The engine palette includes turbocharged gasoline engines 1.2 to 1.6 liters large, rated between 130 and 180 hp (97 – 134 kW). A few similar diesels are available as well. Transmission choices are limited to 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic. Last but not least, a mild-hybrid version will go on sale in 2019.

Prices will be revealed closer to the launch date.
