A Citroen DS Majesty, one out of 27 units worldwide and only 3 post-1967 facelift examples, will be going under the hammer on July 3, 2022, expecting to fetch 50,000 – 100,000 CHF (50,500 – 101,000 USD).
Among other things, the Citroen DS sported an exotic, highly aerodynamic exterior with a special roofline and c-pillars. In contrast, the Majesty spec (see video) was designed by engineer Henri Chapron with quite a different, edgier body sporting a boxy rear end.
The redesign enabled Chapron to add some much-needed headroom above the second seat row and make the rear window larger, too. Elsewhere, the designer chose to frame the trunk lid with improvised fins and bathe the entire body kit in chrome, including even the side sills.
The trim level is as deluxe as they get with luxury materials used throughout and an air conditioner providing individual ventilation for the two seat rows. The leather and wood you see here are genuine, and there are natural woolen mats on the floor.
The current owner had the car for 13 years. It is in a completely restored condition, but has not been driven in a long while. The auction holder admits that the buyer will be solely responsible for checking and repairing all relevant units and mechanisms if they ever plan on actually driving the car.
