SEAT Cupra has unveiled what it calls a ‘95% production ready’ version of its striking UrbanRebel Concept. The car premiered at a special event in Terramar, Spain, and will go into production in the municipality of Martorell in 2025.
The hot hatch prototype from last year promised 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) with an opportunity to boost the output briefly to 435 PS (429 hp / 320 kW). The almost-ready car falls rather short of the initial figure with only 226 PS (223 hp / 166 kW) at its disposal. This is still enough to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.9 seconds and cover 440 kilometers (273 miles) on a charge with the largest of the available batteries installed.
From the technical perspective, the UrbanRebel comes based on the MEB platform designed by VW Group. It is only four meters (156 inches) long, and Cupra believes that the compact size is its killer feature, hoping to sell 500,000 units per year.
