Cupra, a former division of Seat that has been looking to become a popular independent brand lately, has hosted an event called Unstoppable Impulse to announce a new mid-size crossover SUV, the Terramar.
It is official that the vehicle will be a technical clone of the next-generation Audi Q3 and will go into production at the Volkswagen factory in Hungary. It will be 4.5 meters long with an optional plug-in hybrid version available with 100 km (62 miles) of all-electric range.
Heading into the future, the Terramar series will gradually lose its internal combustion engines in favor of full electrification, which remains planned for 2030.
Later additions to the Cupra lineup will include the Tavascan SUV EV and a hatchback based on the UrbanRebel Concept (see video).
