Сupra Ateca gains a revised engine lineup, becomes cheaper

When the original Сupra Ateca came out, it has 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) under the hood – a sizable improvement over the 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) of its Seat counterpart. The distinction has grown thinner lately, though, and the newest Ateca is even tamer than some of Seats.

Specifically, starting in July this year, Cupra will be selling an entry-level version with 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) under the hood and a middle-ground spec with 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW). Both will look largely identical to the 300-PS top spec on the outside and will run on the same 19-inch wheels. The only noticeable difference is the missing exhaust tips at the rear end (they are concealed under the bumper).

In terms of standard features, the two new cheap Ateca versions lose Brembo brakes and DCC adaptive suspension. To compensate, the SUV now starts from a low €41,000.
